Enriched with first class infrastructures, the territory of South West France is not lacking in assets to promote and reinforce its distinguished positioning in the horse world.
These include : race-courses, training centres, equestrian centres, studs, professional stables, veterinary clinics etc., along with the presence of some of France’s best internationally renowned professionals such as Jean Claude Rouget, François Rohaut or Christophe Ferland who are able to optimise the preparation of their horses, many of which belong to owners from abroad.
The accessibility and interconnection on the territory are facilitated for visitors or socio-professionals by the motorway network (A64/65/62), the airports (Bergerac, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Biarritz, Pau, Tarbes/Lourdes), and the TGV (high speed train) network.
The following important international events are amongst those that bring the South West into the limelight.
Pau : The 4 star three day event (end of october) with 40.000 spectators, the carriage driving championships (beginning of november), the winter race meeting (december – mid-february) ;
Tarbes : the Equestria festival (july) ;
Bordeaux : international show jumping. It goes without saying that the wonderfully temperate climate and many tourist attractions enhance the South West’s attractivity.
